Hi, I am Sherry. I paint pictures. My friends from the Queen City Stencilers and I were asked to paint an animal mural for you. |
There was a very plain wall in the entrance hall of the Ronald McDonald House where they asked us to paint our picture for you. |
Gary and Karen are helping me design the mural for that area. |
First we drew the background, and then drew in some animals. This was our plan for the mural. |
Then we made larger patterns of our animals and trees, as large as they were going to be on the wall. We cut all the pieces out of wood. |
It was a hard job using those saws, but we did it. Tom even was able to cut out this very spiky Iguana called Iggy. |
We had lots of paint colors to use and now we were ready to create our friendly forest. |
Gary painted our Iguana friend. Iggy is what we named him, Liz made sure our monkeys were swinging from a limb. |
Liz made sure our monkeys were swinging from a limb. |
Dee painted beautiful parrots to fly up in the sky, |
and Sherry Masterfully made our elephant a wrinkly gentle. |
Lauren gave the trees some bark – the kind you cannot hear, |
that even would fool the baby owls that live so very near. |
Then flowers grew from brushes and paint, and butterflies did too. |
Sherry said we were looking good, but we still had work to do. |
The wall for our picture was way up high, and we used big scaffolds to reach the sky. |
Jeannine painted the sky at night and Carol painted the day, |
Mimi and Jane said “It’s looking great, we’re really on our way!” |
We needed some mountains, trees, a lake-for animals to drink, |
A rainbow, |
some nighttime stars, hey what do you think? |
While Sherry talked to the TV crew, |
and the giraffe’s spots magically grew, |
the Owl and her baby were checking the sky, |
and the mouse was saying, “Come on big guy”. |
Our baby elephant was watching the cub who was hiding behind the tree, |
and all this time Jeannine the giraffe was watching for you and for me. |
A sun in the day, |
a moon in the night, |
a snake in the middle wrapped around tight, |
were each made of tiny pieces glued down just right. |
We added some leaves to the way up high trees, |
A tree toad and butterflies too, |
And at last Sherry and Carol said, “Thumbs up way to go, our forest is through!”. |
